Band Of The Month
Adzuki - Five / Four EP - Jess
Album Cover

I like to call Adzuki ‘my little project’. They’re a band I discovered after trawling the pages of Rock Sound and no-one I know has heard of them so I’m making it my mission to be their loud-mouthed, hyperactive publicity manager. I haven’t told them this yet as I don’t want to scare them, especially seeing as they’re only young but their EP is one of the best I’ve bought in a while.

Another Welsh band (I think I have a thing for the Welshies), they again have the perfect band formula that I love, the same way Dopamine do; a good mix of soft and heavy guitars, intelligent drums and beautiful lyrics and vocals. The first song I heard of theirs was ‘Transitions’, a gorgeous ballad encompassing everything that’s good about post-hardcore music today. Adzuki are talented beyond their years, with mixed ages of 18 and 19 they already released this EP through Mighty Atom records, one of today’s best rock labels breeding bands such as Funeral For A Friend and 3 Colours Red. The standout song is ‘Losing Thoughts’ with its steady verses building up to a heavy yet stunning chorus.

Adzuki make me feel like I’ve wasted my years, they may only be a year younger than me but they already hold the capability of a mature and intelligent band who have been playing big venues all their lives. Keep an eye out for this band because I think they’re going to be big news soon.
