When I got sent this CD, I had no clue who Along Came Man were but I’m glad I do now. Along Came Man are yet another band to come out of Wales and hoping to be able to take their music out of the welsh valley’s and hoping to bring it to the rest of the UK as well. They are a three-piece band who are signed to the Mighty Atom Records who have helped in the development of bands such as Funeral For A Friend, Hollywood Ending, Hondo Maclean, etc. So with the release of ‘Believe There’s Nothing’, Along Came Man are hoping to really get their name out there and to create more of a buzz before releasing a full length album.
The EP kicks of in amazing fashion with the title track ‘Believe There’s Nothing’ which is an amazingly catchy punk/emo track. It’s a song with a great melody which really starts to make me wonder why I hadn’t heard of these guys before. Next up is ‘This Is My Game’ which is another great track and has a bit more of a bouncy pop-punk flavour to it. While ‘Hurts To Be You’ is not quite as satisfying as it never hits as hard as you might have hoped. ‘ Commodore 64’ gets Along Came Man back on track and shows the band at their melodic best to deliver one of the best songs on the EP. The EP ends on the token acoustic track ‘Dream What You Think’ which at first I thought was just like every other token acoustic I’d ever heard but it does pick up at the end and turns out to be a really nice song.
In a week I have gone from not having a clue who these guys are, to having a look at their myspace page to see if they have any gig dates around my area soon and really wanting to see these guys live. Along Came Man are a band with a lot of potential and I’m sure that we will all be hearing a lot more about these guys in the future so check them out now.
