Band Of The Month
Brigade - Lights - Andy

Now this is the third CD by Brigade that I’ve reviewed and it is their first full-length album, which is realised by Mighty Atom Records. Brigade have always been a good band that I enjoy listening to but I have always really preferred seeing the guys live to listening to them on record. However this will be the release that they will be hoping will make people stand up, take notice and really push them into the top flight of UK bands.

The album kicks of with it’s first single ‘Magneto’ which is a ballsy slice of UK Post-Hardcore which I’m sure has been the reason for many a new fan being won over already. The guitars are chunky, the vocals are melodic and there’s pretty much nothing you can fault these guys on. It’s much of the same on ‘Made To Wreck’, which oozes passion, whereas ‘I’ll Be Your Emergency’ slows things down for at least the intro before bursting through into a thunderous chorus. It doesn’t end there either as things continue with ‘Null And Void’ which can only be described as fast and furious while ‘Adjust’ is just breathtaking.

Things slow down a bit at the end but that can’t take away from the real quality on display here. Brigade may have been given a leg up to the top due to vocalist Will Simpson having a famous brother who I’m sure everyone is already familiar with. I’m sure in time that people will forget about those other matters and realise that if Brigade do succeed then it will be because they are an amazing band with infectious and energetic rock songs. There are some amazing songs on display here and in ‘Lights’, Brigade have made an album that deserves attention for the right reasons.
