Now Brigade are a band that I only first heard of a couple of weeks ago when I went to go and see Fightstar and Armor For Sleep in London and Brigade were supporting and they ending up being one of the highlights of the night. Are were an awesome live band and after seeing them I wanted to find out more about the band and that is how I found out about their Safe Hands EP. So I managed to get my hands on a copy and was very impressed.
This is a very impressive first release from this promising Post-Hardcore band. The title track ‘Safe Hands’ gets them off to a great start and contains some really angular guitars mixed with a really great melody. This is a really great song and I urge you all to go and have a listen on their Myspace page while it’s still there. ‘I’ll Be Your Emergency’ shows a more melodic side to the band but still has its heavier parts, it’s another great song with some great vocals from Will Simpson. ‘Go Slow’ is the final song on the EP and is a bit of a slow burner at the start but then gets into its flow and finishes of the EP very nicely.
This is a great first release from a very promising band and the only complaint that I have about it is that there are only 3 songs on the EP. It’s been interested if they can deliver on their first full length album which is due out early next year. In my opinion Brigade look destined for great things and they have just been signed by a very good label in the form of Mighty Atom Records so expect to hear a lot more of these in the future.
