Now this is the first release that we've reviewed by a band that if you had to put them in one genre then it would be metal. They are a band that are a big fan of the odd metal riff or two or three. However I recently saw the video for 'Hand Of Blood' for the first time and immediately knew I had to get my hands on this EP/mini album even if the rest of it was potentially pure metal madness.
The first song on the EP is ‘Hand Of Blood’ which is an amazing song and is so powerful it will hit you like a brick to the head, I recommend u get your arse straight over to their Myspace or Purevolume page and listen to it while reading the rest of this review because I can’t actually describe how good that song is. The next track ‘Cries In Vain’ is a more melodic track but stills works really well mixed with the metal riffs. ‘Curses’ is an even more melodic song which is another highlight of the EP and Matt Tuck’s vocals sound amazing on this one. Then there’s ‘No Control’ which shows the bands hardcore tendencies which is probably why it’s my least favourite on the EP.
The final track ‘Just Another Star’ is another great song which has a little bit of everything and its just as the song finishes and everything goes quiet that you realise how great this EP is. To be honest I wasn’t expecting to like this too much but after listening to this on repeat several times I know I have come across a true gem and a band look set to become the next big thing. This EP has already gained the band a wide and very varied fan base and if you are into bands from Funeral For A Friend and Atreyu to Lostprophets and Metallica then you should listen to this band because they rock, plain and simple.
