First Signs Of Frost - In Our Final Chapter EP - Andy

Now I first heard of First Signs Of Frost when I was down my local pub on a Saturday night and I got introduced to their lead singer Owen Hughes-Holland and we started chatting and he said he’d get me a copy of their debut EP. After much persistent nagging on my behalf he finally got me a copy of ‘In Our Final Chapter’ and this is definitely one time where my persistence paid off.

This 4 track EP could be compared to the likes of Coheed And Cambria and Thrice. It’s Progressive rock music with undertones of Emo and Metal and every song on this EP is brilliant. Straight from the first song and the first lyrics of “Screaming out, is this it? As the credits roll and our movie ends”, you know it’s going to be good stuff. Just like Coheed, I would describe this as easy listening Rock Music but with riffs aplenty. All the essential elements are here and it really looks like this could be the start of something great.

My favourite songs on the EP would have to be the title track ‘In Our Final Chapter’ and the frankly amazing finale ‘Perfect Habit’ which is just an awe inspiring song that Owen says he wrote when he was just 16 which is an amazing accomplishment in itself. Some may think that I’m giving these guys a good review just because they are Wycombe local boys and because they know where I live. However the fact is that this is a debut of real quality and if I did just dismiss it then I think I would deserve to have them hunt me down and knock some sense into me. This EP may be called In Our Final Chapter but believe me this story has only just begun.
