Band Of The Month
Four Letter Lie - Let Your Body Take Over - Andy

Four Letter Lie seem to be a band with a bit of an identity crisis. As one of the newest signings to Victory Records they seem to be a mix of other bands on the label and at times are a mix that doesn’t seem to blend too well at all. Imagine the straight up Screamo of Waterdown mixed with the melodic ness of June. At times bringing the two genres together does work well for FLL but at other times it’s just downright painful.

The album starts well with ‘Full Tilt Avalanche’ which reminds of They’re Only Chasing Safety era Underoath and then continues well with ‘Naked Girl Avalanche’ which should’ve been the lead single from the album instead of ‘Feel Like Fame’ which is an irritatingly catchy track with a chorus so sugary sweet that it would give even the healthiest kid tooth acre. Elsewhere on this album there are a lot of distinctively average songs with a lot of unnecessary screaming which really have nothing else that stands out about them. The only other highlight that I can think of is ‘Tell Me About Everything’ which is another very catchy number.

I have no doubt that these guys will become immensely popular and will probably reach out to the same fan base as the like of Hawthorne Heights. They have the look, they’ve got the sound, unoriginal and as cliché as it may be. They are another band that will be frowned upon by the music media and many others but will be adored by the kids. The Emo trend is apparently here to stay, well for at least for a little bit longer anyway.
