Band Of The Month
Hellogoodbye - Hellogoodbye EP - Stephen
Album Cover

Power-pop punk on Drive-Thru with a keyboard. Something Corporate I hear you shout? Not a chance. More like Weezer meets Motion City Soundtrack while making sure everyone knows your favourite artist is Atom and his Package. Now you are on the right lines. This is a band who definitely stands out on the current Drive-Thru roster. Whether that be in a good or bad way I’m still a little undecided.

If you like your punk rock sugar coated and instant then I'd be surprised if this isn't for you. From the word go this is in your face pop music. The opening track "Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn" is definitely a standout with its loveable hooks and quotable lyrics. Its fun summer music that will make you smile time and time again. The EP continues in the same vein with track two "Call N' Return" being just as catchy. Simple hooks are the order of the day for this band over and over again and every time it delights.

The EP continues in this vein until the last track "Dear Jamie....Sincerely Me" which is a much darker song about failing relationships. Once again though it does impress and fits snuggly next to the other four tracks and remix on this release.

Drive-Thru have no doubt grabbed a cracker with these guys. If the full length can be continued with as much quality as the EP then this band should be onto a winner. Here we have keyboard punk for the masses.
