Out Of Sight are a young band who's members are all in their teens and come from a little area called Beaconsfield which is just down the road from me and I have to admit that these guys are pretty much the only local band that I actually like. I first heard some of their stuff when they went under their former name ‘Nota Clue’ but have recently changed their name to Out Of Sight to start from a fresh. As far as I know this is their first Demo since the name change and there is definite growth on display.
The first song ‘Torn (Something’s Burning)’ is your typical pop-punk with a touch of emo sing along affair but doesn’t come across as stereotypical or clichéd and is a really great start. It’s a really catchy song with a great melody, great vocals, driving guitars and pretty much everything else that’s great about pop-punk. ‘Runaway’ is probably the weakest song on the demo all though its not a bad song and comes across a bit like Funeral For A Friend and has a guitar riff that sounds very much like the one in ‘Hand Of Blood’ by Bullet For My Valentine and unfortunately does come across as being a bit ripped off. The final track ‘Shadows’ is a belter and is just as catchy and melodic as ‘Torn (Something’s Burning)’ and has some great group vocals that really add a lot to the song.
Out Of Sight are a great band and this demo is really good stuff and has songs on it that are a lot better than some of the stuff currently being imported to us from over in the US. These guys are still young and have a long way to go yet but if they keep on getting better and going forward as a band then they will become a force to be reckoned. If I had a record label, I would sign them but unfortunately I don’t, damn it.
