Now tonight is the first gig that I’ve reviewed at my local venue and it’s also the first gig that I’ve reviewed where I was actually the promoter so if you think that this review is going to be biased, I suggest going somewhere else now. Now tonight we just had two bands playing but that didn’t seem to bother the crowd, as these are two bands that are truly worth seeing. Out Of Sight are the local heroes who arrived back from recording their debut EP in New York about 12 hours before this show and Takota are an up and coming US band who are playing in a venue that never usually hosts US bands.
Out Of Sight kick off tonight’s proceedings and most of the crowd are here to welcome the guy’s home. They appear slightly tired due to the jetlag but that really doesn’t seem to affect their performance. They perform a mix of old and new material and don’t seem rusty at all. Songs like 'Shadows' come across so well and the new songs that they do preview tonight are going to make these guys huge. Out Of Sight have just signed to local label Scylla Records, have their debut EP out at the end of July and they will be one of the most popular Pop-Punk bands in the UK by the end of the year. That’s not a prediction, it’s a fact.
Up next are the headliners Takota, who's debut album ‘The Ivory Tower’ has only just come out so it’s understandable that not many people are yet familiar with their mix of emo/punk and straight forward stadium rock. Everyone who knows me knows that I have recently become a massive fan of this band and I specifically looked for when they had a gap in their UK tour so that I could sort them out with this extra show and I can safely safe that I’m not disappointed I did in the slightest. These guys possess such charisma on stage and lead singer Grant Arnow may come across so camp that he makes William Beckett look like M. Shadows but its just all part of an amazing live show. Songs live ‘The Ivory Tower, ‘Lioness’ and their final song of their set ‘City Drugs’ all sound simply amazing.
Takota still have over a week left of their UK Tour to go and will also apparently be coming back over again in September so make sure you go and check these guys out because you might not get to see these guys in UK toilet venues for much longer. These guys are surely destined for bigger and better things.
