Band Of The Month
Allister Interview 15.05.05 - Andy & Dave

Andy (Pep-Rock): Hi, for the purpose of the interview could you please tell us your name and what u do in the band?

Tim: Oh yeah my name’s Tim and I play guitar in Allister.

Andy (Pep-Rock): How did you guys all meet?

Tim: I set the band up back in high school with a friend of mine but we couldn’t really get anything going so we all went off to college and I met a guy and we started a band and we played for a while as a 3 piece and then Scotty joined the band and we gained a few members, changed things a round a bit and now we are at where we are now.

Andy (Pep-Rock): How’s the UK tour going so far?

Tim: It’s amazing, absolutely amazing. It’s always different every time I come over here but it's always good. There are so many good things about the UK, I can’t even begin to explain.

Andy (Pep-Rock): What’s the best and the worst thing about being in the UK?

Tim: The best thing about here is the shows because we don’t get to come here that often so when we do the kids are a lot more excited to see us play and its obvious by their reaction. The worst thing about being over here is that there are not really a whole lot of good beers, I mean there are a lot of beers but there are not a lot of good beers at least in my opinion.

Dave (Pep-Rock): What would you class as a good beer?

Tim: The only beers I really like over here is Guinness I like, John’s Smiths, I know they are like what people would call old beer but for some reason I like it, I don’t know why. That’s it unless I can find Budweiser, that’s what we drink back home.

Dave (Pep-Rock): Who would you say your heroes where when you were growing up and who do you most respect now?

Tim: I don’t know I was always into early Green Day, they were a big influence on me. Also Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, I was into the really big production of the show, making it as grand as possible, because when you go see these bands your not just going to hear the music, your going to see the show as well. It’s all about giving the fans as much as you can when you play, I don’t really like it when bands just get up on a stage and play. It’s cool to have the lights and a show and shit flying about on stage, that’s a show.

Dave (Pep-Rock): How was it for you guys when John left the band?

Tim: Well it’s just one of those things but john was the original so it was kind of hard for me because it felt like I was losing it a friend but he was his time, we talked about it for quite a while and he just felt that was what he needed to do and I was totally cool with that. We still talk now and he’s happy with what he’s doing, he’s actually in law school studying to be a lawyer which is a bit of a change of lifestyle.

Andy (Pep-Rock): What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you guys while on tour?

Tim: A lot of crazy things happened but once we got arrested in Texas because we were drunk in a park. We spent 8 hours in jail and it the most ridiculous thing that I’ve ever gone through in my life. Usually the crazy stuff just happens through drunkenness, breaking things, passing out in parks and on the street and through puking over each other, that kind of stuff really.

Dave (Pep-Rock): What’s the worst show you’ve ever played?

Tim: Let me think, there was this show a few years back at a Festival in New York City and we were like the third band on and there was a huge crowd and for some reason none of our equipment would work. We would play like half a song and all our equipment would cut out, we were breaking strings, microphone stands were falling over, the drum kit was falling over, cymbals were crashing down, it was an absolute mess. We played like shit and we sounded like shit, it was bad news.

Andy (Pep-Rock): You guys have a new album coming out in July and I was wondering what we can expect from it?

Tim: It comes out in the US in July and I think it comes out in the UK in September, I think. We’re really excited about it. It’s a little more Rock driven, not so much Pop-Punk but it’s still catchy Allister, something you can sing along to. So we’re pretty excited to see what the reaction of it is because we’re really happy with it and really pleased with it.

Dave (Pep-Rock): Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Tim: Its tough to say, we just want to keep on doing this, take it day by day and if we become huge then that would be really cool but if we don’t then that’s cool too. I’ve had the time of my life for the past 7 to 8 years so I can’t really complain.

Dave (Pep-Rock): If you weren’t in the band, then what do you think you’d be doing?

Tim: Um, I don’t know I kind of like to go back and get a teaching certificate and teach something like American History, that’s something I’d like to do and my mum’s a teacher and I’ve always been quite into that. Other than that I’d like to be a Weatherman, I don’t know why but I’ve always been interested in the weather and meteorology fascinates me for some reason.

Andy (Pep-Rock): Do you have any final comments or closing statements?

Tim: Make sure to check out our new record when it comes out, it’ll rip your face off.

Dave (Pep-Rock): Cheers
