Band Of The Month
Along Came Man Interview 24.07.05 - Andy

Pep-Rock: Hi, for the purpose of the interview could you please tell us your names and what u do in the band?

Chris: Hi my names Chris and I play bass and backing vocals.

Androo: Hi my names Androo, I play guitar and sing.

Matt: Hi I’m Matt and I play drums and backing vocals as well.

Pep-Rock: I’ve noticed there’s a bit of a change in line up today, is this a new line up?

Androo: This is a brand spanking new line up. The band has been going for about 3 years now and there have been a number of different line ups but Matt only joined the band, when was it?

Matt: Yeah about 3 weeks ago.

Androo: So this tour is the first time on the road with the new line up and its going good.

Pep-Rock: Yeah you said before that it was your first time playing in London, how does that feel?

Androo: It feels good, we’ve played a lot of places before but London’s the one isn’t it, the big one.

Matt: I’ve played here before here in other bands but this is my first time with these guys so it’s a good buzz. The first times always hard though because no one really knows us yet.

Androo: It’s the first time but it’s worked out well and we’ve had a few places to stay along the way and it’s been a good laugh.

Chris: We’ve partied as well you know.

Pep-Rock: After this tour, you guys have the Mighty Atom tour with 3 Colours Red, you looking forward to that?

Androo: Yeah there are a couple of really big venues on that tour like the Islington Academy.

Pep-Rock: Is it in the actual Islington Academy or is it in the Bar Islington Academy upstairs?

Matt: No, it’s in the actual Academy.

Pep-Rock: Yeah that is a big venue then.

Androo: Marvellous, that’s what we’re looking for.

Chris: Oh yeah by the way I just wanted to say thanks for giving us the Band Of The Month, that’s really cool man.

Pep-Rock: That’s cool man, we really loved the EP so that’s no problem at all.

Chris: Ah thank you.

Pep-Rock: So how did the deal with Mighty Atom come about?

Androo: Actually from our record label, the guy who manages us was sitting on a plane next to Roger from Mighty Atom and they got to talking about our band and he gave us a listen and offered to release the EP. So yeah we’re not actually signed to them, its just the fact that they’ve offered to release the EP through them.

Pep-Rock: So you guys are still looking for a label for your next release?

Androo: Well, I think the best thing is to get it recorded and then start looking around for a label to release rather than looking around before hand. I think that would work better for the band really. Yeah and just get our feet into touring, that’s what it’s all about.

Chris: Yeah just playing more and more all over the place and get tighter as a live band.

Androo: Check it out!

(Androo points towards a 40/50 year old man driving a car with spinning rims on it and everyone starts laughing)

Chris: What is that?

Matt: He loves it.

Androo: Check him out, he’s like 104 as it is. Rock’n’Roll.

(everyone continues to laugh)

Androo: He loves it, check him out.

Pep-Rock: Fucking hell, that’s thrown me off a bit.

Pep-Rock: So you guys looking forward to the Mighty Atom tour then?

Androo: Yeah definitely, it’s such a bit step up in venue size and just being able to play in front of more and more people will be awesome. This tour at the moment is a smaller venue tour but with the next tour it will be a bit bigger and there will be a few more people there.

Chris: Yeah we’re happy to be playing anywhere really but we’ll definitely have to take advantage of playing bigger venues and show people what we’re all about.

Pep-Rock: So you guys got anything else planned for the rest of the year?

Androo: Yeah after the Mighty Atom Tour, a bit of demoing, a bit of recording. Hopefully get some kind of EP finished before Christmas and we are going to be on a TV programme called ‘The Guestlist’.

Pep-Rock: What’s that about?

Androo: it’s about up and coming bands kind of like trying to catch them before they make it kind of thing

Matt: Yeah last time they had the Kaiser Chiefs on there.

Pep-Rock: So you said you plan of releasing another EP next instead of an album?

Androo: Yeah well we have an albums worth of songs demoed but we’re working out what to do next.

Matt: Yeah I think we should get it all recorded, try and get signed to a good indie label and then release an EP and then think about an album after that.

Androo: You’re getting exclusives here, we’re actually planning the rest of our year as the interview goes on.

Chris: Yeah I think we should release the next EP through a good indie label and then try and get on a major to release the album.

Pep-Rock: Well you guys are getting some wicked coverage at the moment as you’ve appeared in both Kerrang and Rocksound over the past month.

Androo: Yeah, what was in Kerrang was really cool and that’s what its all about at the end of the day, just getting the word around and hoping people like the music.

Pep-Rock: Cool well I think that’s about it, do u guys have any last comments or closing statements?

Androo: Keep it real and a little bit loose.

Chris: & Loving life is the way forward

Androo: Come on Matt, sort them out with a comment. Come on Matt.

Matt: I don’t know, keep on rocking I guess.

Pep-Rock: Cheers Guys
