Pep-Rock: Hi, could you please tell us your name and what you do in the band? |
Matt: I am Matt and I play the guitar.

Pep-Rock: How did you guys all meet?
Matt: Devin, Toby, Chopper and myself went to college together and decided to start a real band when we graduated. We moved to Seattle, met josh, and then added Dave later.

Pep-Rock: How’s everything been for you guys since the release of ‘The Weak’s End’?
Matt: It’s been a long steady climb for us from being mega poor and then gaining popularity and momentum to the point we are at now, ultra rich.

Pep-Rock: You guys have a new album out now that came out at the start of the month called ‘The Question’, would you like to tell us more about it and how it differs from the last album?
Matt: It’s a very fun album with more up-tempo stuff I think. We had a great time writing and recording it, which we did all of in two months. We love to listen to it and play the songs.

Pep-Rock: How would you describe yourselves as a band to someone who’s never heard of you guys before?
Matt: That depends on who it is. I'd tell your grandma that it is a bunch of jumping around and bopping your head and hollering noise where you can't understand what we are saying, but to your cousin who likes similar music but hasn't heard us, I'd say we are a band that is vocally driven and tries to arrange the music and screaming to make the songs come across as heavy and textured as possible.

Pep-Rock: You guys have been on the Warped Tour recently, how’s it been?
Matt: Its my favourite tour in a lot of ways, mainly because its so different than a regular tour, you get up early and work all day outside and then get off work by evening, you know, like a real man.

Pep-Rock: What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you guys while on tour?
Matt: We went to sleep on the side of the road in our van one night in California and it was hot so we left the windows open. Mosquitoes attacked us all night, bad. We fought back though and the next morning all the windows were covered with our own blood and dead mosquitoes.

Pep-Rock: Any plans to come and visit us folks over in the UK in the near future?
Matt: Not specifically, but yes, I promise we will in 2006, probably earlier than later.

Pep-Rock: So what have Emery got planned for the rest of 2005?
Matt: I think after we finish the headlining tour we are on now we are gonna do a tour on the east coast before Christmas. Not sure who with yet.

Pep-Rock: If you guys found a magic lamp, rubbed it and a genie appeared and granted you three wishes, what would you wish for?
Matt: I'd like to see Clemson University win the national championship in football, I’d make a starbucks on every corner, and I'd make my muscles a little smaller, they are kinda big.

Pep-Rock: Do you guys have any last comments or closing statements?
Matt: No don’t think so.
Pep-Rock: Cheers |
