Pep-Rock: Hi there, can you tell me your names and what you do in the band? |
Jon: Sure, I’m Jon Bunch and I like to sing. |
Derick: I’m Derick Cordoba and I play guitar. |
| |
Pep-Rock: How did you come up with name ‘Further Seems Forever’? |
Derick: Well, it was originally a song lyric and we liked it as our name. Nick Dominguez, the old guitarist came up with it. |
| |
Pep-Rock: Obviously the band has been through numerous line-up changes, Jon how did you become Further Seems Forever’s latest singer? |
Jon: I used to be in a band called Sense Field and we were together for like 13 years and we released 5 records. The guys from Further Seems Forever came to most of our shows. Then Sensefield broke up and later on Jason who did lead vocals for ‘How To Start A Fire’ left Further Seems Forever. The music for the album ‘Hide Nothing’ had already been recorded but they called me up, I sent them some demos, I laid down some vocals and that was that. |

Pep-Rock: Who do you consider your influences? |
Jon: I love Richard Ashcroft, yeah, I guess I could call him an influence. He makes me very, very happy. |
| |
Pep-Rock: Who are your favourite bands around at the moment? |
Jon: I’m pretty particular and tend to focus on bands that have pretty good vocals, I love Queens of The Stone Age, U2, obviously Richard Ashcroft again. |
| |
Pep-Rock: If you could support any band, living or dead, who would it be? |
Jon: The ultimate, Led Zeppelin. |
| |
Pep-Rock: Do you think music is more orientated towards fashion rather than music nowadays? |
Jon: Well, there are good bands both musically and visually in today’s scene, there is often a good combination of the two. Back in LA in the 90s I felt a lot of bands used their looks to cover up the fact they were talentless but I think now there’s often a good blend. When I was in Sense Field, I think we were one of the first bands who listened to bands like Fugazi and tried to draw on inspiration from them and play music like that, in that scene. It is crazy how fashionable post-hardcore is nowadays. |
| |
Pep-Rock: Are there any plans for a new album? |
Derick: We’re in the very early stages of writing a new album, so maybe next year it’ll be released. |
| |
Pep-Rock: Do you have any last comments or closing statements? |
Derick: Come out, check out the album, and check out the shows. |
