Band Of The Month
Hidden In Plain View Interview 07.10.05 - Andy & Dave

Andy (Pep-Rock): Hi, for the purpose of the interview could you please tell us your name and what you do in the band?

Joe: My Names Joe and I sing in the band.

Andy (Pep-Rock): How’s the tour going so far?
Joe: It’s only our second day so far so we kicked off the tour yesterday and it was good, it was a good show.

Dave (Pep-Rock): How’s everything been for you guys since your debut album ‘Life In Dreaming’ came out?
Joe: It’s been pretty good. It’s done pretty well, I mean this is out second time over here since the album came out. We were over last time on the Drive-Thru Record tour with Allister and I Am The Avalanche and Halifax, and that tour just made us wanna come back over here even more and this time we’re over here headlining for the first time so that’s great.
Andy (Pep-Rock): Yeah a lot of people said you should have been headlining that tour.
Joe: Yeah well maybe, it was still fun to be a part of that tour. This time around we’re back over here with no other American bands with us this time so we can really see how we’re doing this time.

Dave (Pep-Rock): What’s the major difference between the UK and the US fans?
Joe: Well at this present time, I don’t know, I think the crowds in the states are a little bigger at this time. The crowds over here are a little more passionate though, like the fans will really get involved when we play whereas the American fans might hold back a bit and not get as involved. That’s about all I can think of.

Andy (Pep-Rock): What’s the best and the worst thing about coming over to the UK?
Joe: The money’s expensive, pound’s are expensive. Everyone always says the food but its not that bad, it’s just not what I’m used to. I love the UK, I love to come here, it’s our fourth time over here now and every time we come over here we’re looking forward to it.

Dave (Pep-Rock): What’s the hardest thing about being on tour?
Joe: Well we’ve been on the road for about 3 years now and you know you miss your family a lot, you get home sick. I mean I’ve got a younger brother and for the past 2 or 3 years I’ve been on the road and I’ve missed seeing him grow up but you know I still get to see him and he knows who I am and what I do so. It’s also hard to have a girlfriend but this what we do so you know, that’s how it is.

Dave (Pep-Rock): What bands what you most like to tour with in the future if you had the chance?
Joe: Definitely my favourite band is Jimmy Eat World so to be able to tour with them would be amazing. Also I’d just love to tour again with bands who are good friends of ours like The Academy Is or I Am The Avalanche and bands who’s music we really respect as well. You know it’s one thing to play with a band and to then just go and sit there and then go sit back out and then go and watch a band that you’ve been listening to for a long time and you really love what they do you know.

Andy (Pep-Rock): What are you guys up to for the rest of the year?
Joe: Well we just all rented a house together so we’re moving into there so and we’re gonna start working on some new songs and get into the studio and we’ll probably do some more tours in the US too and as soon as the new records done we’ll probably come back over here again to tour.
Dave (Pep-Rock): When do you reckon the new record will be done by?
Joe: That’s a hard question but I think if we get everything written in the time we’ve given ourselves then we’ll hopefully have a new record for next summer.

Dave (Pep-Rock): What do you reckon you would be doing right now if you weren’t in Hidden In Plain View and you weren’t ever involved in the music industry?
Joe: I dunno, I really don’t know, I mean I went to college.
Dave (Pep-Rock): What did you study?
Joe: Mass Communications, it was just dumb, I don’t why I was doing it. I was just at college but I didn’t really wanna be there. I really don’t know what I’d be doing. Anything I guess.

Andy (Pep-Rock): Any closing words?
Joe: Check out our record if you haven’t already, it’s called ‘Life In Dreaming’. Yeah I’m in love with it so you should be to, so yeah get onto the Internet and look us up online.
Andy (Pep-Rock): Cheers
